Radios and as my County uses P25 for the PD, Fire and EMS dispatch, Is the MD-380 able to monitor a P25 System, and can you program the talkgroups in to hear Dispatch etc.

The md380 is analog and dmr only. No p25 unfortunately.

You are confusing two different things. The 380 does DMR not P25.

There were rumours that the hacked firmware would be able to add P25, DStar etc etc. It hasn't, and won't, happen. Not taking anything away from the guys working on the custom firmware because they have made some nice improvements... but adding other digital modes won't be one of them.

Why do you say that? It's no great thing to do, the different formats share the same vocoder. The data is just packaged a little differently much like DVB-S,-T,-C, ATSC and 4DTV, all MPEG-2 encoding just different transport streams.

Because of hardware limitations, mostly (memory is problem #1). Also it's almost pushed to the limits just doing DMR. And one other thing, who's going to write the CPS to do all this? Don't get wrong, would be neat to see it happen, but I'm certainly not holding breath.

n Russia there is a receiver ADCR25 which implements the standard P25 and DMR initially it took just a conversational channel P25 now he can run and DMR, and supports the P25 trunk
