DMR Contact Manager is a custom-designed software package designed for use with Connect Systems CS700/CS701 radios, as well as the Tytera MD-380/390/390GPS, AnyTone D858, Retevis RT3, and similar radios that use the RDT file format, and Connect Systems CS750/751, CS800/801, and others that use the RDB file format. These units are MOTOTRBO-compatible DMR mobile radios suitable for both commercial and amateur radio applications.

Contact Manager makes it easy to maintain channel, zone, contact and call group information in these radios. It is fully compatible with the DMR-MARC database system and allows instant codeplug updates from a wide variety of sources.

The latest Contact Manager release supports channel editing, importing, and exporting, as well as zone and scan list management for RDT and RDB files. It's now a snap to move channels and zones between codeplugs - - and with Contact Manager's built-in IntelliPaste functionality, associated contact information is always imported right along with channels whenever it's needed - - so that your imported channels work right the first time!

Does anyone know the way to un-install MD380 Tools from an MD 390? It has done terrible things to my radio.

I recently found that using the md380tools from Travis Goodspeed I was able to apply a more feature-full firmware and found instructions on how to reset the password.
The reset hasn't worked for me.

I unfortunately still have issues.
After reading some more, the new firmware allows one to update the DMR ID without needing to program it.

Also, I found the best results by using a raspberry pi with the md380tools.

It can happen that a “PC Programming Password”, set on the Tytera MD-380/Retevis RT-3 “CPS” programming software, is lost or forgotten. If that happens, there is no way to program the radio from your PC ever again.
However, there is a simple workaround:

1.) install the md380tools by Travis Goodspeed KK4VCZ; follow carefully his instructions for installation;
2.) issue the following commands:

./md380-dfu read mycodeplug.img
printf '\xFF\xFF\xFF\xFF\xFF\xFF\xFF\xFF' | dd conv=notrunc of=mycodeplug.img bs=1 seek=$((0x20a0))
./md380-dfu write mycodeplug.img

3.) when done, turn off the radio and back on again;
4.) your PC programming password is now empty;

Scanning a 4 channel Capacity Plus system with a MD-380. This was with the experimental software that allows the radio to listen to any DMR traffic heard. I have set up one channel as a scan channel.

Best starter DMR radio?

Looking at a few different options you could choose from as a first DMR radio. There are also the Hytera and the CS-750 radios which are meant to be good, but I didn't include them in this video because I don't have any personal experience of them.

Project 25 (P25 or APCO-25) is a suite of standards for digital radio communications for use by federal, state/ province and local. P25-compliant systems are being increasingly adopted and deployed. Radios and as my County uses P25 for the PD, Fire and EMS dispatch, Is the MD-380 able to monitor a P25 System, and can you program the talkgroups in to hear Dispatch etc.

Will the Tytera MD380 radio receive a DMR Motorola Connect Plus (TRBO) trunked system? I know it is not a trunking radio but if you enter the frequencies will it receive?

MD-380 motorboat sound

When I transmit with a MD-380 and a rubber-duck antenna, there is a "motorboat" sound on my transmit audio when using a Retelvis speaker mic.  I opened the mic and observed that they are not using a shielded mic cable.  When I transmit into a dummy load or an outside antenna the "motorboat" sound is gone.

Has anyone been able to fix this RF into audio problem and what speaker microphones do not have this problem?

The problem goes away when you use the proper mic for it... such as the following unit.
